Tamil Nadu RTE Admission 2025-26

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued guidelines for private schools in the state for the academic year 2025-26, including provisions for free admission opportunities. Under the directive of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education for Children Act, a 25% seat reservation has been allocated, allowing students to apply for enrollment in LKG and Class I at private self-financed schools.

Essential Documents Required for Application Submission:

  1. A recent photograph of the applicant, with dimensions of 150 pixels by 175 pixels, capturing a clear image of the individual.
  2. A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate to verify age and identity.
  3. Either an AADHAR card or Ration Card of the parent or guardian, establishing the familial relationship for identification purposes.
  4. An income certificate specifically designed for candidates belonging to the Weaker Section, providing proof of financial status.
  5. A community certificate for candidates from Disadvantaged Groups, showcasing their social background for equitable consideration.
  6. An additional Disadvantaged Group Special Category Certificate, detailing any specific circumstances that warrant special consideration during the application process.

Minimum Age for RTE Admission 2025-26

In Mumbai, it is improbable that the age requirement of six years for enrollment in Class 1 will be enforced during the ongoing academic year, especially concerning admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) policy. The deadline for RTE admissions is set as December 31st, and the stipulated cut-off date and minimum age have become a significant concern for parents.

For the academic year 2025-26, a total of 75,039 schools in Maharashtra have been enrolled under the Right to Education Act (RTE), offering 9,61,668 seats as per reports from State Education Board authorities.
