CBSE to Hold Bi-Annual Board Exams from 2025-26: Dharmendra Pradhan: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced plans to hold board exams twice a year starting from the academic session 2025-26. This new approach, spearheaded by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, will give students the flexibility to choose when they want to appear for their Class 10th and 12th board examinations. This innovative concept aims to provide students with more opportunities to excel and showcase their knowledge and skills. By allowing exams to be conducted twice a year, the CBSE is paving the way for a more student-centric and adaptable educational system. [Updated on 20 February 2024]

Minimum Admission Age Criteria in CBSE Schools 2024-25: The Central Government has implemented a minimum admission age requirement for Class 1 in CBSE schools in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP). As per this regulation, the minimum age for admission to Class 1 should be 6 years completed as of the 1st of April in the academic year for which admission is sought. While Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has already enforced this age criterion across all its schools starting from the academic year 2022-23, private and state government schools are yet to implement this directive. The main issue lies in two key factors: the minimum age prerequisite and the cut-off date, which varies across different states. Some states observe the 1st of January as the cut-off date, while others adhere to the 1st of June or July. Consequently, many parents find themselves perplexed by the ambiguity surrounding the minimum and maximum age requirements as well as the varying cut-off dates.
