Central Government Holidays 2024 | Gazetted and Restricted List

Central Government Holidays 2024

Central Government Holidays 2024 PDF: Every year, typically in the month of June, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issues an official order outlining the holidays for the upcoming year. This document, known as the Central Government Holidays 2024 PDF, serves as the initial announcement of holidays for central government offices situated all over India. The order is divided into two main sections delineating the holiday schedule.

The first category is Gazetted Holidays, which consist of generally recognized holidays, while the second category encompasses Restricted Holidays that provide employees with more flexibility in choosing which days to observe. Typically, the Gazetted Holidays span around 17 days, while the list of Restricted Holidays extends to approximately 34 days, allowing for a broader range of options for individuals to plan their time off.

How to Fix Holidays for Central Govt Offices?

There are a total of 14 holidays designated as compulsory holidays in the official list of gazetted holidays, while three holidays are listed as optional. Additionally, there are restricted holidays which are also optional. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has finalized the holiday structure for Delhi and has published specific rules and regulations to determine holidays for other states as well.

CGEWCC Decide Holidays for CG Employees

Each state has its own Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) established to ensure the welfare of central government employees working in that particular state. This committee is responsible for determining the three optional holidays to be included in the gazetted holiday list and compiling the complete list of restricted holidays, with a preference given to local festivals and special occasions specific to each state.
