Maharashtra RTE Admission 2026-27 – Self-Declaration Form (Detailed Explanation)

The Maharashtra Right to Education (RTE) Admission process requires parents or guardians to submit a mandatory Self-Declaration Form (Hami Patra) while applying for RTE 25% reservation seats. This declaration ensures that the information and documents provided during the RTE 2026-27 admission are truthful and authentic.

What is the Purpose of the Self-Declaration Form?

During the RTE admission process, applicants upload several documents (residence proof, income certificate, caste certificate, etc.). The Government requires parents to confirm that all submitted details and documents are correct. By signing this form, the parent legally accepts responsibility for the authenticity of the information.

Key Components of the Self-Declaration Form

  • Child’s Name: The parent must write the full name of the student applying for RTE admission.
  • Parent/Guardian Details: The form must include the name of the father, mother, or legal guardian submitting the declaration.
  • The parent declares that:
    • All documents submitted for RTE 2026-27 admission are true and genuine.
    • The information entered on the official RTE portal is accurate.
    • Verification committees may check the documents and information at any time.
  • Liability in Case of False Information: The declaration clearly states that if any document or information is found to be false during future verification:
    • The child’s RTE admission may be cancelled immediately.
    • Criminal action may be taken against the parent/guardian.
    • Any reimbursement amount payable to the school will not be released by the Government.
    • The parent will be responsible for paying the full school fees thereafter.
  • Acknowledgement of Consequences: The parent confirms they fully understand the consequences if false, incorrect, or misleading information is submitted.
  • Date, Signature & Mobile Number: The form must be signed by the parent/guardian with the date and an active mobile number for communication.

Maharashtra RTE Admission 2026-27 – Age Criteria (Simple Guide)

The Government of Maharashtra decides the age rules every year for RTE 25% admission. Based on the official circulars for 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26, the age criteria follow a fixed pattern: children must fall within a specific birth date range between 1 July and 31 December.

Age Criteria for 2026-27 (Expected as per Government Pattern)

Admission Class Birth Date Range Minimum Age (as on 31 Dec 2026)
Pre-Primary / Nursery 1 July 2022 – 31 December 2022 3+ years
Class 1 (इयत्ता 1ली) 1 July 2020 – 31 December 2020 6+ years

How These Age Rules Were Decided?

The age criteria follow the same pattern used in earlier Government circulars:

  • For 2025-26, Class 1 minimum age was 6 years (DOB: 1 July 2019 – 31 Dec 2019)
  • For 2024-25, Class 1 minimum age was 6 years (DOB: 1 July 2018 – 31 Dec 2018)
  • For 2023-24, Class 1 minimum age was 6 years (DOB: 1 July 2017 – 31 Dec 2017)

Since the Government advances the DOB range by exactly one year in every circular, the same logic gives the age rules for admission year 2026-27.

Maharashtra RTE Admission 2026-27 Reservation & Lottery Logic

Part I: School Responsibilities

Schools eligible for RTE 25% reservation must update important information and get approval from the Cluster/URC head before appearing in the school selection list. Schools must provide:

  • School Contact Details
  • Valid Age Limit for admissions
  • Total Strength, Intake, and RTE Vacancies (as per 30 Sept academic data)
  • Accurate School Location pinned on Google Maps

Part II: Child Application Process

Parents need to complete the following steps while applying for RTE admission:

  • Register to get the Application Number and Password via mobile
  • Enter child details and parent details
  • Mark the exact home location so the system can list schools within:
    • 1 km range
    • 1–3 km range
  • Select the required class (Nursery / Class 1, etc.)
  • Upload all required documents
  • Confirm the application
  • Visit the help desk with the printed application and documents

Part III: Lottery Logic

When school vacancies are fewer than the number of applications, the RTE system uses a fair lottery process.

  • Schools that have more vacancies than applications will admit all applicants.
  • For schools with less vacancy and more applications, a lottery is conducted by the District Education Officer.
  • The selection list is published online, and parents can see it in their login and print the admit card.
  • Schools will admit selected students after document verification.

How the Logic Lottery Works..?

  • Priority is given first to children living within 1 km of the school
  • Then the remaining seats are filled from children living within 1–3 km
  • A computerized lottery uses a digit-based random draw system to ensure fairness
