After the announcement of increasing the Dearness Allowance to 50% from 1st January 2024, there was also a notable adjustment in the House Rent Allowance rates for specific metropolitan areas. The rates surged from 27% to 30% for cities classified as Urban Agglomerations (UAs), including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune. This alteration in the allowance rates aims to address the rising cost of living in these bustling metropolitan hubs and provide more financial support to government employees residing in these areas.
