Canteen Stores Department CSD AFD Online Portal Registration and Login Process 2025: The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) has made a remarkable move by launching an online portal for the registration and login process in 2025. This initiative has been brought to life at the headquarters of CSD, marking a significant step forward in customer service. For the past three years, this online platform has facilitated the sale of AFD-I items, including a wide range of products such as cars, bikes, scooters, TVs, fridges, and air conditioners.
This milestone has been accompanied by a substantial increase in sales, benefitting not only the three Armed Forces branches – the Army, Navy, and Air Force – but also catering to the needs of ex-servicemen. Now, these distinguished individuals can easily access this service through their mobile phones, allowing them to shop conveniently with their family members.

The initial login process holds a level of importance in the CSD AFD online portal, as it marks the first step towards accessing the platform’s array of services. Post signing up, the user is prompted to create a password using the provided tool. In case of forgetting the password, individuals can easily click on the ‘Forget Password’ link, where they will be asked to input their details in the specified fields within the dialogue box. Subsequently, a link to generate a new password will be dispatched to the user’s registered email address. Upon successfully creating the new password, the user can seamlessly navigate to the site, ready to embark on their online journey within the portal.
CSD Closed Sales: Last 3 Days Every Month
CSD closes sales through the online portal during the last three days of each month to settle the accounts with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). However, there seems to be confusion as to why the AFD portal is displaying a maintenance mode message. The AFD portal is put into scheduled maintenance mode whenever new rates are being uploaded. The sale typically begins on the first day of every month whenever a new rate is received from the OEMs. Products will only be available on the portal once the OEMs have submitted their rates for the current month’s sale.

There is no minimum service requirement akin to that for purchasing a car for the acquisition of other AFD-I items. All aforementioned categories of canteen smartcard holders are entitled to procure other AFD items regardless of their length of service.
Regarding the frequency of purchases for various AFD-I items like TVs, ACs, Fridges, Mobiles, Laptops, Desktops, Washing Machines, and Two-wheelers, the following guidelines apply:
– TVs: Two units may be purchased within a block period of four years.
– ACs: Four units may be purchased within a block period of four years.
– Other AFD-I Items (excluding Four-wheelers): One unit in a four-year cycle from the date of the last purchase.
The periodicity of purchases is subject to periodic review by the Office of the Directorate General Canteen Services, with any updates being applicable as notified.
As for repurchasing the same category of product, any product of the same type can only be bought once within a specified timeframe.

CSD AFD Purchase: Everything You Need to Know
Those eligible to purchase four-wheelers with a canteen smartcard include specific categories of individuals. This authorization extends to Serving Defence Civilians at Pay Level 11 and above, as well as Retired Serving Defence Civilians at the same pay grade. Additionally, Serving Armed Forces Personnel ranging from Pay Level 1 to 18 are entitled, along with Retired Armed Forces Personnel within the same pay level range.
According to the guidelines of the AFD Portal, the car cannot be transferred until 5 years have passed since the initial purchase. This means that even if you transfer the ownership of the first car to a family member, you would still need to wait for the designated 5-year period before being eligible to make a new purchase through the portal. Additionally, the regulations stipulate that any subsequent vehicle acquisition can only be undertaken after another 5 years have elapsed from the date of the last purchase.
You cannot make payments using your spouse, wife, or children’s account. However, if you hold a joint account with your spouse or children and you are the primary account holder, then you are allowed to transfer funds from that joint account for payments. To proceed with this, a formal declaration must be submitted by all joint account holders, authorizing transactions specifically for payment purposes related to AFD-I item purchases through the designated portal.
A beneficiary has the option of making a partial payment, which can be completed up to two times, but no more than that. This arrangement allows for flexibility in managing financial obligations by breaking down payments into smaller, manageable increments.
CSD’s role extends up to the point of delivery of the product. Beyond that, any services such as after-sale service, warranty claims, registration, insurance, and others are the sole responsibility of the customer. In these post-delivery processes, CSD does not play any role and the customer is required to manage them independently.
