Purchase and Reimbursement of Briefcase Allowance 2024: Its stands out as one of the esteemed benefits reserved for higher-grade officers in the Central Government. Every three years, these eligible officers have the privilege of acquiring official bags and ladies’ purses for their official use. This scheme operates on a reimbursement basis, where eligible officers can procure the aforementioned items from any shop or showroom of their choosing. Subsequently, upon submission of the original bills, they will be reimbursed the appropriate amount corresponding to their grade or pay level.

Rates for Purchase and Reimbursement of Briefcase Allowance 2024
Every Department has recently released a comprehensive order outlining the guidelines for the Purchase and Reimbursement of Allowance for Briefcase in the fiscal year 2024. This order provides detailed information regarding the entitlement of the Briefcase allowance to the officers and staff within each Department. The rates for the entitlement of the purchasing amount have been meticulously fixed in alignment with the pay matrix level of the individuals.
However, it is important to note that while the Department allows officers the autonomy to purchase an eligible product of their choice at their own preferred price and from a selected showroom, the rate of reimbursement amount is strictly set. This reimbursement amount can only be obtained by officers upon successful submission of the claim within the designated time frame.
Revised Rates of Briefcase Allowance 2024
As per the current protocol, officials or officers of this Department are eligible for reimbursement for the purchase of a briefcase, office bag, or ladies’ purse once every three years from the issuance date of their previous one. Recently, the Competent Authority has made adjustments to the monetary threshold for reimbursement of these items to ensure that employees are adequately supported in their professional needs.

Briefcase/ Office Bag/ Ladies Purse may be purchased by the officer/official himself/herself and the bill in original may be sent to General Administration Branch certifying that the Briefcase/ Office Bag/Ladies Purse has been purchased and the reimbursement for the same will be made subject to the revised ceiling as mentioned above with effect from 1st May, 2024.
