AICPIN June 2024: Hike in DA for Government Employees
The Dearness Allowance, a crucial financial aid meant to offset the impact of inflation, is being hiked once every six months for both existing and retired central government employees, a practice that has been in place for a significant length of time! This allowance is meticulously calculated in two distinct intervals: from January to June and from July to December, following a detailed formula that has been prescribed by the 7th Pay Commission.
Specifically, the exact percentage of the first installment of the Dearness Allowance is determined based on calculations made during the July to December period, and this increment is then provided to beneficiaries starting from the 1st of January. Conversely, the precise percentage of the second installment of the Dearness Allowance is calculated from the January to June period and is subsequently disbursed from the 1st of July, ensuring that employees have a consistent and reliable adjustment to their compensation in line with economic changes.
