The All India Survey on Domestic Workers is a comprehensive endeavor to evaluate the number and proportion of domestic workers at the national and state levels. Through this survey, researchers seek to delve deep into the demographic breakdown of domestic workers, exploring facets such as living arrangements, employment status (whether formal or informal), migration patterns, wages, and various socio-economic characteristics.
This ambitious project will leave no stone unturned as it covers all 37 states and union territories of India, encompassing a total of 742 districts. The survey’s enumeration unit will be villages based on the 2011 Census data and urban blocks according to the most recent phase of the UFS, ensuring a thorough and representative analysis. Nationally, the survey will span over 12,766 First Stage Units (FSUs), comprising 6,190 villages and 6,576 UFS blocks. A total of 150,000 households, designated as Ultimate Stage Units (USUs), will be meticulously studied, providing a rich dataset for the survey’s analysis.
